Department of Computer Science


B.Sc Computer Science and Information Technology headed by Mrs. V. Radhika, M.C.A., M.Phil., currently pursuing Ph.D in Avinashilingam University.  She has 12+ years of teaching experience in the same institution.  She has presented many papers in National and state level conferences.  In the Department many workshops, seminars and certificate courses were conducted for the benefit of the students to be updated with the latest technical trends. 

To meet the challenges of the current IT field, the Department was established during the year 1997 with 38 students in one UG course (B.Sc.(CS)).  Further, the Department has been upgraded with the PG course (M.Sc. (CS)) and
UG course (B.Sc. (IT)), and is currently running with the strength of 518 students.  The Department aims at moulding the students with high discipline and a good academic exposure.  The dedicated team of the faculty employs innovative teaching techniques to promote effective learning. The Department is an institutional member of CSI. 

Eminent personalities from various MNCs are invited to exchange their views and ideas with the students and also to help the students for future perspective in the IT industries. The Department also provides a good placement training by experts from outside. To develop the rapport between the students and faculty members, tutor outbound programme is conducted every semester.

The Department has two student associations SCORPETE and IT SPARKLES for UG and PG, which organizes technical exhibition EXXON and intercollegiate EITERNIA meet every year and releases a magazine in the name
“SCORPETE and IT SPARKLES”
.

Lab Infrastructure

  • Four labs, each with 60 systems with Digital processor.
  • Two IBM Servers with xenon processor and one Multimedia Lab.
  • The labs function from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm.
  • The lab is equipped with Windows 2000 and LINUX OS.
  • A digital library with 27 systems and more than 300 CDs.
  • One IBM Storage Server with 1000 GB HDD with Internet connectivity.
  • One Language Lab with 30 systems.
