Department of Biosciences


Dr. K Viswanathan, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., Dip.Ed., is the HOD of Biosciences, coordinating all the three Departments,  viz., Department Biotechnology, Department of Microbiology and Department of Bioinformatics.  He has more than 33 years of teaching experience in various Government Arts Colleges at Tamil Nadu.  He has 3 years of administrative experience as Deputy  Controller of Examinations.  His field of specialization includes Plant Embryology and Tissue Culture.  He has attended various conferences, seminars and workshops.  He has published 15 research papers and 3 text books. 
To cope with the increasing demand for skilled manpower in Biosciences including Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Bionanotechnology  etc., a separate  Department of  Biosciences  was started in the college from the academic year 2006 – 2007 and  currently the following three fields were established
