Department of Costume Design and Fashion


Mrs. T.R Rajini Devi, M.Sc. is the HOD i/c and she has 5 years of teaching experience.  The Department  constantly monitors the current need of the industries and equips the students with the proficiency in latest technologies to race in the competitive job market.  The Costume Design and Fashion Course trains the students to qualify with the skills required to meet the growing demand in the garment industry. 

The department is well structured and housed in separate three storeyed building with the state-of-art facility for textile testing lab, textile processing and printing lab, garment production lab, computer aided  designing lab for fashion studio and pattern making with updated softwares and garment construction lab furnished with modern machineries like Juki and Yamato which are found in high-tech garment industries.

The Department  association entitled ESTILO-VIAGGIO aids to bring out the inherent talents in the students.  The students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities inside and outside the campus.  They participate in various events like fashion show, crafts, paper presentation, etc.  and come out with the charming success.

Apart from the degree course, the department offers value added certificate programs in sewing, pattern making, embroidery and CAD.  As part of their curriculum, the students are taken for industrial visits to garment units, exhibition, garment fairs and fashion shows to gain first hand working knowledge and to expose them to changes in the fashion industry.  During the course of study, the students are deputed for internship to export garment industries.  Students are also sent for industrial training in various allied units such as knitting, processing, finishing and embroidery.

Seminars, Workshops symposiums, Guest Lectures and demonstration classes are arranged regularly so as to enable the students to keep abreast of the changes and trends in the world of fashion.
