Tamil is offered as part I language. The HOD of Tamil Dr. R. Vijaya Samundeeswari, M.A., B.Ed., Ph.D., has imparted dedicated service to the institution for 9 years. Her Ph.D. was on Error Analysis in the learning of Tamil by other language students. She has contributed 15 papers at the national and state level seminars on Tamil literature and mass communication. She has also organized state level workshops.
The Department strives to sharpen the involvement of students in the language study and to express themselves in seminars, debates, competitions and activities like creative writing, book review and interviews. The department also organizes Literature/Book Review and Creative Writing Workshop with leading writers annually.
Oratorical Contests helps to bring out their formal discipline, to improve the art of pronunciation and the appropriate use of gestures and poetry writing. Competitions are conducted by identifying their talents and interest, and to nourish self confidence in order to develop in this area.
Book reviews on various topics are being organized twice in a month for the academic development and to promote their communication skills and to inspire to read books.
Debate and training workshop enhances their critical thinking and reasoning abilities based on novels, short stories and poetry.
Kavimandram provokes students thoughts and imaginations, which is being held once in a month. Various programmes are conducted to mould their character and glitter their personality.
Immeasurable steps are being taken to improve the students talent. Adequate practice and support
help them to come and work together for the success.
Students can also opt for other languages such as Hindi, French and Malayalam under part I which are being taught by experts. |
