Department of Microbiology
Mr. M. Ajith, M.Sc.,(SLET), PGDBI, is the HOD of Microbiology and he possesses 11 years of teaching experience. His field of interest includes Molecular Biology, Microbial Genetics, Genetic Engineering and Bioinformatics. His new fascination is Bionanotechnology. He has attended various conferences and seminars and delivered guest lectures in various colleges. The study of microbiology has important applications in Microbial Genetics, Immunology, Biostatistics, Medical Bacteriology, Medical Parasitology, Mycology, Virology, Food, Dairy, Soil, Agriculture, Environment, Pollution, Industry and Pharmaceuticals.
Recent advances in microbiology have opened up new vistas where micro organisms can be utilized for the production of important biochemicals including enzymes. This has led to an industrial revolution. The Department is housed with 2 modern research laboratories and 2 culture rooms. |
