Department of Social Work


Mr.A.Alagarsamy, M.A.,M.Phil., is the Head of the Department of Social work. His area of interest is HRD, training and counseling and he has 6 years of teaching experience. 

Social work is a two-year professional programme to help people to help themselves. The Department strives to bring out the talents in students by giving on the job training during the course of their studies.  The course is well designed to impart professional knowledge and skills to the candidates.  The students will be guided to gain a foresighted vision and mission to intervene with social issues and problems strategically.

Apart from theoretical inputs, it includes concurrent fieldwork, block placement, orientation visits, welfare campus, special projects and industrial tours.  The student trainees will undergo intensive field work training in multiple agencies like Government, Non-Government and Inter-Government Organizations. This will make them fit for placements and prepare them to meet issues and challenges.

The Department offers three specializations like Personnel Management and industrial relations medical and psychiatry and community development.
