The department is headed by Dr. Rinsey Antony V. A. M.Sc., M.Phil., DCAD., NET., SET., Ph.D with 14 years of mastery acquaintance. The department's commitment to staying abreast of industry needs and incorporating the latest technologies demonstrates a forward-thinking approach. The focus on molding students with proficiency and knowledge in contemporary technologies reflects an understanding of the dynamic nature of the fashion industry. The Costume Design and Fashion Course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to meet the growing demands of the garment industry. The emphasis on developing holistic inputs in generic design, along with a focused approach to apparel, indicates a comprehensive educational strategy. The incorporation of creativity development suggests an intention to nurture well-rounded individuals in the field of costume design and fashion.

  • B.Sc Costume Design and Fashion was established as a statutory course in the year 2005 and offers a 3-year degree programme in Costume Design and Fashion
  • The department offers variety of programs in design, art, fashion, business, and communications, taking an unconventional approach to teaching and problem-solving to meet real-world challenges.
  • The Department occupies a locale of 20,300 Sq.ft to equip the student generation with the facility for apparel designing and construction..
  • The Department regulates under the functioning of the six laboratories. Laboratories functions with advance machinery which are found in high-tech industries and also help students to gain knowledge about the industrial atmosphere.
  • The curriculum has been designed meticulously to equip the students with knowledge required for pursuing a wide range of careers in designing, production, retailing, brand management, boutique management, Fashion Illustration, Visual merchandising, Fashion styling and Textiles. The students are given opportunity and freedom to choose the specialization necessary for their choice of career with the help of discipline specific electives, generic electives and internships.
  • During the course of study, students are delegated for 12 weeks of industrial exposure training to various fashion fields like garment industries, fashion houses, luxury brand stores, CAD designing centres, fashion choreography, etc.
  • Value added certificate programs in sewing, pattern making and CAD is conducted in order to increase their skills required in part to meet the growing demands of garment industries worldwide.
  • The Costume Design and Fashion Students’ Association - ESTILLO VIAGGIO represents current students within the CDF Department. The association conducts various activities like workshop, hand on training, guest lecture, exhibitions, competitions to enrich the skills and talents of the students.
  • LE TALENTO INVENCIBLE - The goal is to organize creative and professional DESIGNER RAMP SHOW where the final year students exhibit their garments on the ramp to strengthen and expose their talents.
  • The department imparts social responsibilities to students by making them participating in social welfare programme like training the women and unprivileged children, constructing and distributing Jabla for the new born babies.

  • • There is also a huge scope of fashion designing in Canada, USA, UK and countries in the European Union
  • They are free to join garment manufacturing companies, fashion houses, export units etc. after the completion of their studies.
  • The scope of costume design and fashion not only limited to garments. It covers many other aspects such as jewellery, accessories, footwear, etc.
