PSIGEMONAS

The department association known as "Psigemonas" organizes both intra and inter college competitions, events, workshops, conference, exhibition and extension activity and has successfully created a network of alumni that connects aspiring and practicing psychologists who possess practical knowledge and skills.

Extension Activities

Supervised fieldwork is an integral component of the weekly timetable, complementing classroom instruction. Students are assigned to different organizations within the local community, including old age homes, homes for the destitute, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and special schools. During these placements, students engage with individuals and conduct psychological assessments based on their observations

  • Cancer awareness session, shedding light on the importance of early detection, prevention, and support for those affected by cancer. The session provided a platform for open dialogue and education, covering topics such as risk factors, screening methods, and available resources for patients and caregivers
  • A heartwarming journey to an old age home, where we spent a day spreading warmth, companionship, and compassion to the elderly residents. From heartfelt conversations to shared moments of laughter and reflection, our visit was a testament to the power of human connection and empathy. We engaged in various activities tailored to the residents' interests, including storytelling, music therapy, and reminiscence sessions, creating an atmosphere of joy and belonging
  • Autism Awareness Day in the department was a poignant occasion marked by a series of engaging activities aimed at fostering understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • The rally on suicide prevention organized by the department was a powerful and impactful event dedicated to raising awareness and promoting resources for suicide prevention.The rally served as a beacon of hope, unity, and solidarity in the fight against suicide, reaffirming the department's commitment to prioritizing mental health and well-being within the community.

Fests, Workshops, Conference, and Exhibition

The department's main focus is on the personal growth of individuals through a range of extracurricular activities. In order to enhance the students' organizational skills and overall development, they are assigned responsibilities in organizing Psychology fests, workshops, intra-departmental level Psychology fests, and inter-collegiate level Psychology fests. The primary aim of these fests is to raise awareness about the fest's theme in an entertaining manner.

  • Our department transformed into a playground of joy and laughter as we celebrated Children's Day with boundless enthusiasm. Laughter filled the air as the students delighted in games, arts and crafts, and interactive sessions organized specially for them
  • The Psychology Department came together in a heartwarming celebration to honour and appreciate our esteemed educators on Teacher's Day. Amidst laughter and camaraderie, faculty members were showered with gratitude and admiration for their dedication, passion, and unwavering support in guiding students along their academic journey
  • Through role-play, we explored diverse perspectives, practiced active listening, and refined our communication skills. From therapist-client interactions to group therapy simulations, each scenario provided a unique opportunity for self-reflection and learning
  • The workshop on psychiatric intervention and case studies in the department provided a comprehensive exploration of clinical practices and theoretical frameworks in addressing psychiatric disorders.

As part of the department's expanding activities, a new addition, on Emotions and Developmental Psychology Exhibition "Metamorphosis” has been introduced. Students showcase various working models, posters, and assessments to students and faculty from other departments. Additionally, during the exhibition, students also conduct different assessments to help others understand their psychological capabilities.

Whether it's through word games, brainstorming sessions, or collaborative writing exercises, our Word Building program offers a fun and interactive way to cultivate a culture of communication and innovation within our department.
  • Quiz Session! Getting ready to test your knowledge, challenging your thinking, and having some fun.Whether they're a seasoned expert or just starting out, this was a great opportunity to engage with their colleagues, and sharpen their skills.
  • Our department recently transformed into a captivating gallery as we hosted amesmerizing photography exhibition. The space was adorned with stunning images captured by talented photographers from within our department.
  • A vibrant and enriching multicultural event, celebrating the diversity that defines our community. From colourful displays of traditional attire to tantalizing tastes of global cuisine, the event was a true celebration of cultural heritage and unity.
